The Sarasota Concert Association is currently seeking applications for the position of Executive Director.
Title: Executive Director
The Sarasota Concert Association seeks a creative and dynamic Executive Director to provide leadership, implement strategic planning, and execute the effective fulfillment of its organizational mission, as established by the Board of Directors. The position will combine both leadership and administrative roles, leading the organization with new and innovative strategies while efficiently administering strategies and mechanisms that already exist.
Duties that are the primary responsibility of the Executive Director will include fund-raising, marketing operations, community relations, box-office oversight, financial oversight, concert logistics, and the hiring/supervision of employees and independent contractors. Duties that will be shared in collaboration with the Board of Directors include strategic planning, development, special events, and production of the program book.
The Executive Director will also serve as an ex-officio member of the Board and all its committees and will support those operations as needed. S/he will assist the Artist Selection Committee as a consultant in the selection, hiring, and presenting of artists for the Great Performers Series and Music Matinees. The Nominating Committee will continue in its role of recruiting new members.
All duties, primary or shared, will be fulfilled with integrity and passion for the mission of SCA and its standing in the community.
Required Skills and Experience
Candidates should have experience working with not-for-profit associations, as well as excellent people skills in all social strata, communication, writing, organizational, computer and database management skills. The successful candidate will also demonstrate creative thinking and exhibit an appreciation for classical music.
Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree is desirable.
Salary and benefits will be competitive with other organizations of comparable size.

The Sarasota Concert Association (SCA) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that fosters greater appreciation for world-class classical music by offering two engaging concert series from December through April. The Great Performers Series, in its 75th season, brings world-renowned orchestras, soloists, and chamber groups to the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall and other venues. The Music Matinee Series features outstanding regional artists in free community concerts at the Beatrice Friedman Symphony Center. The annual budget is in the $500,000 range.
